Renovations
Addition and Remodeling projects can take an extra effort of care to design. We have extensive experience working with existing structures and how to improve them. Here are a few examples.
Craftsmen Renovation
This design project was in partnership with contractor Associated Housewrights in Madison. They built and coordinated the project. Built around 1960, this is believed to be a parade home at that time. The entry was not enough of a focal point. Collaboration with the owners went flawlessly and they are extremely happy with the results.
Lake Geneva Farmhouse Renovation
A friend contacted me to improve his childhood home. The owner's early thoughts of adding on to the house were re-directed to better utilize the existing square footage. This decision reduced construction costs by at least $90,000. A simple garage addition & gutting most of the interior put dollars directly where they made the most impact. The original front door had been abandoned due to the poor location of it. The home therefore was not inviting to visitors. Strategic interior planning led way to a new covered entrance adjacent to the driveway. Existing windows in random sizes had been placed in awkward locations. This was corrected with the remodel as well. A small service door to the back yard resulted in the private outdoor space to also be unusable. A new 8' wide patio door now provides a much needed connection to the outdoor space. The end result of the project is a warm and inviting home that serves day-to-day living as well as enjoyable entertaining.
